Hadrian's Wall

Come Visit Another Long Trail of Great Information!

Hadrian's Wall is definitely a must-go place that we will stop along our trip. Hadrian's Wall was built in the year 122 AD and it was built by emperor Hadrian like the name of the wall. It is an extremely long fortification wall and is one of the greatest things left from the Roman Empire that still lasts today. Hadrian's Wall acted as a great protector to the Romans because it blocked out enemies trying to enter the Roman territory. One of the most important things to know about are the Barbarians and how they tried to conquer the Roman Empire. The end of Rome's fall was partly because of social, political, and much more issues but another great issue was the Barbarians. The Barbarians could not go past this great wall and that it was essential for the Romans. It shows that the Romans really did everything they could to keep its empire going. Hadrian's Wall goes through many different areas and in the wall there are some parts that are more narrow or broad than others. The Romans carefully thought this through for if they were going to make it long, it would go through different environments. In those environments, would mean different sorts of necessities. This was a type of architectural achievement the Romans found as well. There was also one fort near the middle and that still lasts today. Overall, Hadrian's Wall was necessary for protection and security to the Romans from enemies and it also showed the smartness of the Romans and their architecture/engineering achievement as well.
